STEAMS day

Sports Extension at Victory Boxing from Mr Skiperoo on Vimeo.

STEAMS day arrived in the senior syndicate with overwhelming success. STEAMS, the acronym taken to abbreviate Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Maths and Social Sciences was available to all the children last Wednesday.

The children opted in to various workshops, aimed to challenge their thinking, curiosity and discover through practical experiements and activities. Sessions ranged from problem solving, construction, coding, sports science, practical drama sessions, and even various cooking experiments.

Unfortunately, the weather wasn't quite so cooperative, which put a slight downer on the Farm visit, orienteering and Sports Science on offer. But in true Hampden Street style, the moods certainly were not dampened. Outstanding attitude from all the children, challenging their initial ideas and trying something new.

Huge credit must go to Karen Linyard for all her efforts in preparing the day, ensuring all workshops ran smoothly, and delivering some popular inspiring sessions for the children to get involved. It was great to see the higher level thinking on show, and all children involved challenging their initial concepts.
