Buddy Time

Buddy Book worms
Room 6 have been very supportive of their Buddies this term, helping them out with a range of fun activities and challenges this term. We have been listening to our buddies read regularly and helping them with their high frequency words.

Miniball superstarsChildren from Room 6 helped Room 13 developing their movement and bouncing skills. They created short games to teach small skills. We have been focussing on movement and keeping balance with the ball bouncing to waist height.

Pic Collage to present learningRoom 13 have been using PicCollage to help present their understanding of the books they are reading. The children of Room 6 helped support their understanding and present in a visual manner. Some super teamwork!

Stop-Go animation
Today, Room 6 teamed up with Buddy class Room 13 to learn how to use Stop-motion animation. The ideas were creative and frantic, the teamwork outstanding and the enthusiasm overwhelming.

We looked at example by legend Nick Parks (responsible for Chicken Run, Wallace and Gromit and other successful animations). The children discussed the content, planned the set and created the characters. The videos are to follow!

Colour wheels in nature

This week, we have been listening to our buddies literacy work and supporting the use of simile in their writing. We then went outside to explore the colours in nature. We collated our findings trying to order the colours and blend them in order. Have a look at the awesome job Room 13 and Room 6 managed to achieve!

Exploring Simile
Today Room 6 and 13 teamed up to explore the fabulous world of Simile. We looked at animals and their key features and discussed how we can use visual language to capture the imagination of the reader. Here's some of our finer work:

Natural Sculptures
Following our work on natural colours, we created small scenes out of natural materials and developed our own imaginary scenes.

Olympic street Art

Term 3 brought the onset of Olympic fever in Buddy time. We made our own Olympic murals, looking at events, colour and creativity. Here are some of our final examples:
